When lockdown was introduced in March 2020, it was reported that approximately 73,600 weddings and civil partnerships were cancelled, postponed, or affected in some way and couples across the UK preparing for their big day were suddenly left in the dark. And although we’re officially in Step 3 of the Covid roadmap, a maximum limit of only 30 guests in England are permitted to attend a wedding ceremony or reception, another devastating blow for thousands of couples.

And it’s not just England that’s been affected. Although Northern Ireland and Wales don’t specifically have a fixed limit on the number of guests you can invite, the amount of people attending a marriage ceremony is determined by your own venue’s risk assessment. The same stands for wedding receptions in Northern Ireland, while in Wales, as of the 17th May, receptions can now take place for up to 30 people indoors and 50 people outdoors.

In Scotland, up to 50 people can attend a marriage ceremony, civil partnership or reception in a level 2 or 3 area. With up to 100 people able to attend in a level 1 area. These limits however, are provided that the venue can accommodate the appropriate amount of guests while also being able to adhere to social distancing guidelines, resulting in the number of attendees, at many venues, being significantly lower than 50.

As the whole of the UK apprehensively waits for June 21st, many couples are still unsure as to whether they should postpone or even cancel their big day. Here at Lightmedia however, we understand that the importance of being legally and emotionally united with one another is vital to many couples, so we thought we’d help you turn your innovative and creative ideas to involve absent guests in your celebration into reality.

Drive-in to the Wedding of Your Dreams

As a couple, you’ve been dreaming about your wedding day for a long time, so we understand that cancelling my not be an option, so why not get creative and enjoy the uniqueness and simplicity of a drive-in wedding?

Get in touch with your venue and see if they could accommodate a drive-in. If so, you and your partner could say your vows in an intimate ceremony of up to 30 people, and your additional guests could witness it on one of our LED screens, from the comfort of their own car.

Our Excalibur 360°, a 45sqm mobile LED screen is the largest in the LMD fleet and would enable up to 250 cars to witness you saying your vows to one another. Alternatively, if you originally had a smaller guest list, the 27sqm mobile LED screen, which allows for up to 150 cars, would be a fantastic choice and can be up and running in as little as 15 minutes from arriving at your venue.

While you’re getting ready for your big day, and your drive-in guests are getting diverted to their parking spaces, our LMD technicians could display a slideshow of you and your partner throughout the years to entertain your guests. We could also organise a live stream, so your ceremony could be viewed online, in order to allow any absent guests to witness your special day, just be aware that we would need an internet connection from your venue in order to do this.

Whatever your choice, our LED screens are the perfect option and come with onboard production facilities. LMD also supplies the FM transmitter in order to enable your guests to listen to you exchange vows through their car radio (just make sure you have obtained a radio frequency licence from JFMG). An experienced technician will also be there throughout your drive-in wedding to help make your special day memorable.

Here Comes the Bride on Zoom

We understand that a drive-In wedding may not be for everyone, so why not simplify it and stream your special day on a zoom call, the most popular digital venue to say “I do”?
Once only known to the corporate world, Zoom has quickly taken over the internet. It’s been your child’s classroom, your workplace, and the host to your pub quiz night, but it’s now helping thousands of couples to legally solidify their love.

And we understand why. It’s simple to operate – it’s pretty straightforward for even the most technology-challenged, it allows the host of the party to mute guests – so you can say your vows without any interruption, and it enables you to have up to 1000 devices to join in on a single call.

The simplicity of having a zoom call wedding means your special day could still go ahead as planned. Although you will have to make adjustments to your guest list, LMD are here to make sure you don’t have to make the dreaded “I’m sorry, but you can’t come to our wedding” phone call. We can guarantee that your absent guests are virtually present by providing you with a LED screen.
We have two options that we think would be perfect for your digital wedding. Our 360° de-mountable LED screen is impressively compact with a remarkable high-resolution quality and can be set up in as little as 10 minutes. You also have the option of raising the screen, and with it’s impressive rotation, it will enable a more flexible viewing position so your virtual guests can have the best possible angle of you and your partner saying “I do”. The attraction of the de-mountable screen is that the truck can be driven away from the site and the screen can be left in situ. Our mobile LED screen, also available with a display area of 12sqm, is another option. With full colour video display, it’ll enable you to clearly capture the look on your digital guests’ faces as you walk down the aisle.

Whatever your plans may be to still go ahead and have the wedding of your dreams, no job, big or small is too much for the Lightmedia team. So get in touch today here to see how we could turn your ideas into reality.
